The question of which airports in the world are the worst seem unanswerable. Even when airports are good, they are glorified soulless waiting rooms. At the worst of times, however, they are confusing, frustrating, and full of people feeling exactly the same way. There are some airports, however, that are so terrible they have gotten a serious reputation for being hated by the world over.
The world's most hated airport, perhaps, is Los Angeles Airport (LAX). If you are transferring from a domestic to an international flight, you have to exit one building, only to enter a second, and put up with all that same security all over again. And it gets much worse when you consider the vastly overpriced food, and the distinct lack of clean places to rest and wait.
Another shining example of a rubbish terminal is the "Paris" Beauvais Airport in France. This building lies around 50 miles north of the capital, which makes leaving it a much more difficult task than it should be, especially in the absence of a rail link. The airport also closes over night, so if you find your flight being too delayed, you may have to sleep on the lawn! To make matters worse, the building resembles a glorified tent, and there is a distinct lack of services.
Most of the airports at New York get a bad press, but perhaps it is Newark Airport terminal B that gets the worst of it. This is for several reasons. Firstly, it is the nation's worst airport for on-time arrivals, meaning you're bound to be waiting around for yours. Secondly, they put the security before individual piers in Terminals A and B, meaning that you won't have any services to entertain you.
Airports, when they are good, are supposed to be boring, efficient means for you to travel. It is an extremely hard question, then, to ask which the worst is. But, as should be clear now, there are some stand out terrible airports.
