Plan Your Trip To Spain And Visit Altea

By Bernard Bowers

Consider Altea if you are traveling to Spain and looking for a vacation spot in which you can relax and unwind. It is North of Benidorm and there you will find an unspoiled fishing village that has kept its small-town charm and natural beauty.

Traveling to Altea

This is a city that is located approximately one hour from the Alicante airport. Once you land, there are several different modes of transportation that are available to you. While it may be most convenient for you to rent a car, other options you have would include public buses and trains.

The economy of the area is booming, largely due to the increase in available real estate. As tourism is the biggest economic growth factor, new hotels and other types of lodging have sprouted up in recent years. Here, it is likely that you will find the perfect accommodations to suit your needs.

Things to See in Altea

In this area, which is nestled in the mountains of Sierra de Bernia, some of the most beautiful views of the Costa Blanca are offered. What it does is attracts tourists from all walks of life from international writers and painters to local artists. It is a tranquil vacation spot for others but for some, it is a permanent home.

If you want to see the city and all of its unique features, then the best way to do it is to take a walking tour. Available throughout the town and the surrounding areas are private and group tours. You may even find that this type of tour can be included in a vacation package.

The well-known church, Nuestra Senora del Consuelo, is what you will find here. It has a blue dome which is a tribute to the traditional Mediterranean-style architecture that is prevalent in this area.

If what you are looking for is a little more excitement, then you can wander down the narrow cobblestone streets to find unique shops, some with quaint handmade souvenirs. What you will discover is that some stores operate all day while some are closed for an hour or two during the middle of the day.

There is a craft market located near the harbor area that you can visit. Not only that, it's open from Easter through September. From local artisans, you can find unique gift items. The prices are reasonable and most of the items are handmade.

For others, golf is a must in a vacation otherwise it won't be complete. If that's the case, you'll find many courses around the Costa Blanca to please any golfer. It's a good idea to call ahead, as green fees vary from course to course, and from season to season.

If the hustle and bustle of a city that is brimming with activity is what you like, then Benidorm is the place for you. On the Costa Blanca, it is considered as the most popular resort area with over 1000 restaurants. What you can do during the day is that you can visit its theme parks and at night you can dance the night away at one of its 30 nightclubs.

Plan ahead, so when you're finally on vacation, you can relax!
