A Brief Discussion On Business Travel Luggage

By Amy Norman

Business travelers often travel without their spouse, but rarely without their luggage. Luggage selection is especially important now that airlines are charging a fee for a second checked bag and many times the first bag as well when traveling economy class.

There are no fees to deal with (for the meantime) while traveling first or business class. Business travelers with experience, though, have seen it all, and know all the tips and the tricks when trying to save money traveling while not skimping on any amenities.

Traveling can be confusing these days because whether luggage is checked or carried on, there are so many options out there. But why go through all these options when you can travel light for added security and less costs involved?

Despite the benefits of traveling light, any business traveler should make sure that he or she has everything required for the trip, packed as compactly as possible. Depending on your business travel needs, you're sure to find the right type of bag you need for your trip, whether shopping at a department store or online.

For instance, you could go with a rolling business case if you don't want to leave anything behind at home. These bags come loaded with everything -a toiletry kit, computer case, a removable sleeve, and more than enough room for anything you want to bring. It provides convenience and versatility. The garment sleeve is designed for 1 - 2 suits and is perfect for the 2 - 4 day business trip.

Never check a bag that is meant to be carried on. Bags that are meant for carry-on would include tote bags, garment bags, and briefcases. They are specifically designed to carry the types of items you cannot afford to have checked, like medicine, keys, and a doctor's prescription. Tote bags, however, pass through airport security quickly.

Is it necessary to have your laptop on the trip? You need to ensure your laptop's safety, and there are several kinds of case for your laptop that you can get so you don't have to mix it with the rest of your bags. There are laptop cases available in the market that are crush proof, dust proof, corrosion proof, and impenetrable by water and air. Colorful cases designed especially for women are also available.

An older bag may have a hard time passing through the usual automated carrying system. It may be time to update. Never check through fragile items but if you must, hard covers provide a larger measure of safety than soft. Hangers or a dangling strap are a no-no.

To roll or not to roll? It depends on how light you're traveling and how much you can tote around. No doubt, wheels make carrying much easier for baggage to be checked.

Remember too, never leave your luggage unattended and at your destination claim your bags immediately.

Be aware of the size limits for carry on. The carry on bags must weigh less than 40 pounds and be no larger than 45 linear inches. You can determine how many linear inches your bag has by adding the length, width and height.

Business travelers no longer take anything related to luggage sitting down. If you wish for a simple, friendly and hassle-free business trip, you need to do your homework and shop around wisely for the best luggage to bring on the trip.
