A Condensed Travel Guide For Disney World

By Harry Barber

If you have been planning to go on a fantastic vacation, but don't want to spend a lot of money, Disney world might, surprisingly, be one of the destinations on your list. Probably not due to the costs, you say, but with just a little of the R-word (research it is, natch), it might be more inexpensive than you think. Research is your best friend, always has been, and always will be as you analyze different package deals for the best possible option.

Disney Packages

Your starter package lasts a minimum of five days and is the biggest bang for your buck. It doesn't matter if you are on your honeymoon or just taking the kids. Of course, you won't want to go broke in the process, so have a plan in mind and of course budget everything beforehand.

Going Downtown

Here's a treat for those who grew up on Lego, or are growing up on Lego - how about a stroll down to the Imagination Center? You and your kids can enjoy yourself as you gaze at sculptures created purely from Lego, or the kids can run around the 3,000 square foot play area - now that's a whole lot of Lego for them to amuse themselves with!

Musical Fountains

No, you aren't seeing things - these are actually interactive fountains where you can hear the colors and see the sounds. Yes, you can jump in, splash around and make it a Kodak moment for your keepsakes. Feel free to make some merriment in the fountain waters and get some free magic lessons from the nearby magic shows in the area!

Pleasure Island

If you guessed that this is Disney World's more, erm, grown-up side of things, then you guessed right. Also, best of all, it's free during the evening hours! When the kids are tucked into bed, you and the better half can paint the town like adults should, visit the restaurants or go shopping, and while at it, watch the fireworks display nearby! This island wouldn't live up to its name if it hadn't any night clubs, but as the saying goes...no money, no honey - men, don't tell your wives I said that!

Boardwalk

Go directly to Boardwalk! A wholesome memory of more wholesome times, and the perfect background song for a sunset stroll with the family. Enjoy the performances of the street performers as you dig in the wholesome ambiance. From jugglers to jazz musicians, take in the atmosphere and enjoy. For dancing and live bands with no cover charge, stop by the Atlantic Dance Hall.

Monorail

If you're lucky enough to have a multi-pass the Monorail is available for you to ride, free of charge. If you want to see all of Disney World's top attractions like you never have, this is a ride I suggest you check out with your family.

Cruises

For those where money is no object, you might want to consider a cruise along Crescent Lake and visit Epcot, the Yacht and Beach Club, Swan and Dolphin, and MGM along the way. And as your journey continues on the open water, you have the option to visit the Magic Kingdom, the Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, Ft. Wilderness, and Grand Floridian, among others via boat.
