Traveling Cheap - Fast And Frenetic Tips To Follow

By Frank Woods

Perhaps to you, the destination vacation is a pipe dream, something that you can only afford if you could find your name listed on the pages of Fortune magazine. Not a chance, Lance! Of course your name may not be Lance, but our point is that it's easy to travel on a budget, and budget does not have to mean lodging in a hippy commune, er...cheapo hostel. Don't put off your dream vacation for another year. All it takes is effective planning and you can have an inexpensive and enjoyable vacation.

If you dream of a tropical vacation complete with turquoise waters and gently swaying palm trees, your dream can come true sooner than you think. All-inclusive vacation packages in sunny locals such as Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Barbados are surprisingly affordable. The price of all-inclusives is so reasonable you might need to call an ambulance after the shock and surprise of seeing such a low, low combined price for air fare, lodging, food and drink. A lot of resorts also offer a lot of alternate options for amusement. Book last minute and you could be staying at a five star hotel for the price of a three star. Another tropical option is right in your own backyard. Take it from me - I'm a native New Yorker, and the last time I visited Malibu Beach in California I was like, "hey, am I still in America?"

Yes, it is possible to visit Europe, and not let the Euro intimidate you into staying home. If you plan to stay in one city for the entire vacation, you'll want to rent an apartment. Apartment rentals are a sound and inexpensive choice for any budget-conscious traveler - it's just like the B&B without the latter B. Staying in a unique apartment also give you an opportunity to check out less touristy areas of major European cities. Many of these apartments have their own kitchenettes, allowing you to enjoy fresh, healthy meals even if you're miles away from home. Oh, you just have to experience it yourself. You can also try your luck with booking an off-peak flight well in advance, as this can considerably save you on air and hotel costs.

Booking with a travel agent and not through the 'net is pretty much like big, frizzy mullets and denim jackets in the hottest of weather - it's an artifact of yesteryear. Hotels and flights can be booked at significant savings, and you can check back as often as you like for updated prices. For added convenience, you may even be emailed regarding changes in your airfare. So if you have a computer and can connect to the 'net, you can save a bunch and book your vacation online.

Dream vacations are within your reach if you simply spend some time making plans and finding the right price for you. No matter what your budget, you can have the perfect vacation and see the world.
