Consider that there are about 24 million or so people who visit Paris as tourists, mainly to experience the ambiance and enjoy viewing the tourist attractions. From a list of hundreds of remarkable places to visit and monuments to gaze upon, we have chosen five that are probably the most popular and well-known. We shall now briefly look at five Parisian tourist destinations that are arguably the most well-known and most closely associated with the City of Light, as travel cognoscenti would refer to it.
Eiffel Tower. We would say this is a no-brainer - what individual does not recognize this monument or acknowledge its splendor and glory? This is by far the most influential attraction in all of Europe so this deserves a place in our list. Different people think of different things when they think of the Eiffel Tower - most of the time they think of picturesque postcards, but other than that they think Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, Scientology and L. Ron Hubbard (sorry, I didn't mean those last two), but in any case, would you pass up a visit to such a monument that everyone knows about, a monument that offers such a spectacular view?
Arc de Triomphe. You can still get a breathtaking view of Paris from the Arc de Triomphe, even if it is obviously dwarfed by the Eiffel Tower. Which is why it is still visited by a lot of people, millions, in fact, who want to experience the city view, for lack of a better term.
The Louvre Museum. When it comes to exploring one of the most famous museums in the world, it is here where you will find the infamous Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, as well as thousands of additional pieces within an impressive collection of art that spans hundreds of great civilizations. As far as European (or world) museums go, the Louvre is one of the oldest in existence, having been founded in the late 18th century.
Centre Pompideu. This building is, in itself, art nouveau, which is generally what people come to this tourist attraction for. This is not just a place for art buffs to visit, but also a place for families, with the myriad activities offered to people of all ages. This is yet another place visited by millions of tourists.
Cite des Sciences at de l'Industrie. If science is your cup of tea, this interactive museum has plenty of exhibits to help pass your time in the city. Many of the hands-on entertainment explore the depths of various branches of science and technology, such as biology to anatomy.
