How To Book The Best Airline Tickets To Your Ideal Vacation Spot

By Dustin Faulkner

Have you ever read a travel article on a magazine and seen a wonderful place you wish to visit, only to realize you don't have the means to get there? We often associate travel with glitz and glamor, but even ordinary folks like us can get airline tickets to our ideal vacation spot, en route to a wonderful time all throughout the trip.

The first step is determining where you'd love to go and how much you can afford to spend. And don't restrict yourself to domestic flights. Oftentimes you can get better travel deals by flying overseas as opposed to flying domestic.

In fact, in recent years flights across the United States from New York to Los Angeles have been more expensive than flights from the US to London and even Paris. Yes, it is possible for you to get airline tickets to an overseas destination - and prime overseas destinations at that - at the same price or at a comparable rate to domestic flights within America.

When flying to your dream location, also be very mindful of the hotel where you're planning to stay, and other costs related to staying there. There are cities where lodging and food is quite affordable, as well as cities where the costs could be quite steep.

Traveling to less touristy destinations can often help to curb the cost of a trip away from home. You can also get discounts on hotels by combining them with your airline ticket cost in a package.

A package deal, as we mentioned, gives you discounts for flight and hotel, but also on your food and maybe even other activities. You can try booking at a resort instead of hotel, because expensive as it may seem, it often beats booking a separate hotel reservation and eating your meals outside. Once you get to your resort, everything is included in the price.

When planning a getaway to your dream destination, you can opt to travel in the off-peak season to get lower rates. Airlines and hotels need business, so therefore they would slash their rates, sometimes in the neighborhood of 50 percent, all to attract additional passengers and guests, respectively.

That may mean that it's a little too cold to hang out at the beach or that you don't have snow at the ski lodge. However, if you're going to look at the architecture and sample the fabulous food, those things may not matter as much.

Carpe diem - seize the day. This means it's your time to buy those airline tickets, get them cheap, and enjoy your dream vacation while you still can. It may be a lot more affordable than you think.
