Enter Turkish Airlines as a Truly International Airline

By Antonia Joseph

Part of the Star Alliance; Turkish Airlines has gained more strength than ever. They operate 171 flight routes, at the moment, of which 41 are within the country's borders and the remainder is to international destinations.

No one can ever say that Turkish Airlines does not recognize the value of marketing and brand recognition. As a matter of fact, they are very hip on picking out brands and the markets that are affected. For example, American basketball and the contract for NBA star Kobe Brant has been a selection. In February, 2011, Mr. Bryant completed a commercial for the airlines that has a humorous element to it. Recently, the airlines added Caroline Wozniacki to their list. She will lend a hand by promoting the airlines' Business Class service to the European fans of tennis. October 2010 was very busy for Turkey's number one airline.

At the beginning of 2011, Turkish Airlines signed a codeshare contract with US Airways. A codeshare agreement between two airlines permits them to access each other's passenger bookings. This type of arrangement is beneficial for each airline and effectively expands both reach and revenue. Since it's easier to get better deals and there are more flights they can take, these arrangements are also to the benefit of passengers. Travelers going to Turkey or the U.S. will have a wider choice thanks to this codeshare agreement. October 2010 was very busy for Turkey's number one airline.

During the summer of 2010, Turkish Airlines was abuzz with plenty of action. In July, the finished a five year deal with Euroleague Basketball in which the airline will be a sponsor of the global European basketball competition. The new name for the basketball association will be changed to the Turkish Airlines Euroleague basketball for the season that is coming up soon. This really should come as no surprise to those who follow the company's marketing strategy. Turkish Airlines understands the tremendous appeal and reach of sports. The flying public is all a part of it all.

Turkish Airlines has developed and adopted a new form of travel known as Comfort Class. The airlines new Boeing 777 aircraft are the only ones where this service is available. The level of comfort available is taken to a whole new level with seats that are almost 46 inches wide. So that is nearly four feet of seat available for yourself and anything else you care to have with you on your seat. Keep in mind the Boeing 777 is a "heavy" class airliner designed for long-haul flights.

However, this is a standard business practice for most businesses. But still many businesses don't seem to grasp the concept of reinvesting in their own growth, as Turkish Airlines so obviously have. This level of focus has strengthened the airline and given passengers plenty of benefits at the same time.
